At the end of the Easter Term, 45 members of the Football Club went on tour to Valencia, the pupils ranged from Year 11-14.  Mr Collier, Head of Football at Campbell explained, "The tour was designed to give a concentrated footballing experience, allowing students to learn and develop through the challenges of playing against possession based opponents in the heat of Spain.”  The tour also included two coaching sessions at La Liga Club Valencia CF, these sessions were held at the club's training ground complex and ran by their coaching staff.  “The whole experience gave the pupils an insight in to the life of a professional player”, added Mr Collier.

The students also had time to relax having a tour of the Valencia CF stadium, Estadio de Mestalla. Keen football fans will recall this is where Northern Ireland beat Spain in the 1982 World Cup! The players also spent time together at the hotel’s rooftop pool, the beach and had a night out at local entertainment complex, Heron City. The boys were thrilled to meet Instagram influencer Mehran Rohan too!

We spent some time with our Club Captain, Will, Year 14 (School) who described the opportunities the tour provided him and his team mates.

As you have heard, Mr Collier organised a very rich experience of competitive games, coaching sessions and social opportunities for the team. Many thanks to him and the staff who helped make this trip possible for our players.

If you are interested in learning more about football development at the College Mr Collier will be hosting a meeting on 4th May (7pm at CCB).  He will be discussing an elite player pathway programme that will be offered through a Football Academy from August 2023.  More details will be shared via ParentMail shortly.
