162 pupils opened their GCSE results at Campbell College today (Thursday 21st August 2025) to reveal a 14% increase in A*/A grades for the College since 2019. 40% of GCSE grades awarded were A*/A in comparison to 26% in 2019. A*-B figures were also significantly higher with 65% in 2025 compared to 51% in 2019. The overall pass rate at Campbell has also risen to 91% in 2025 from 88% in 2019. Fifteen students achieved a full house of A*/A grades. These results reflect the College’s sustained commitment to academic excellence and the strength of its all-boys educational environment.
Departmental performance further illustrates the breadth of achievement across the curriculum. In STEM subjects, Further Mathematics achieved 93% A*-B grades and Mathematics 86% A*-B. Chemistry delivered 99% A*-C grades, while Physics and Biology showed 95% and 93% A*-C, respectively.
As with A Level, diversity was again apparent, with the Arts and Humanities delivering strong performances. Art and Moving Image Arts secured 100% A*-B grades, while Music, Religious Studies, and Motor Vehicle Studies achieved 100% A*-C. English Language, History, and Drama also performed well, with 99%, 97%, and 96% A*-C grades respectively. Overall, 88% of pupils achieved five or more A*-C grades including English and Mathematics.
With only 70% of pupils joining Campbell via academic selection, the College continues to demonstrate its ability to support and nurture a diverse range of learners. These results are a testament to the added value delivered through high-quality teaching, strong pastoral care, and a learning environment tailored to boys’ development. Success is being enjoyed across the cohort, regardless of entry point, reinforcing Campbell’s commitment to helping every pupil reach their potential.
Commenting on the strong performance, Headmaster Mr Jonathan Anderson stated, “We are proud of every pupil who received their results today. The rise in top grades is a reflection of our students’ hard work, the dedication of our staff, and the support of parents and guardians. In a year where national conversations continue around boys’ academic performance, it is encouraging to see our young men thriving across a broad curriculum. We look forward to welcoming pupils back into Sixth Form next week and starting the next chapter in their educational journey.”
