120 students at Campbell College opened their A Level and BTEC results today (Thursday 14 August 2025), marking another year of strong academic achievement and a clear upward trend in top-grade performance.
This year, 35% of students achieved A*/A or Distinction*/Distinction grades, a significant increase from 25% in pre-pandemic years, reflecting the College’s growing academic strength and commitment to excellence. In addition, 84% of students secured A*-C grades, up from 75%, demonstrating sustained improvement across the board.
This year’s results further demonstrate the strength and diversity of academic achievement across the College. From the rigour of Further Mathematics, where 100% of students achieved A*/A grades, to the creativity and expression found in Art & Design, Music, and Moving Image Arts, all of which achieved 100% A*-C grades, Campbell students continue to excel across a broad curriculum. Subjects such as Chemistry, English Literature, French, and Sports Science also delivered 100% A*-C outcomes, highlighting the College’s commitment to nurturing talent in both STEM and the arts. These results reflect the varied interests and abilities of our students and the inclusive, well-rounded education they receive.
The BTEC pathway also continues to thrive, with 30% of students choosing to complement their A Level studies with a BTEC subject. These pupils delivered excellent outcomes, with 64% of BTEC grades awarded at Distinction*/Distinction level. This reinforces the value of vocational qualifications and the College’s commitment to offering a broad and balanced Sixth Form curriculum.
Among the standout achievements this year were 16 students who achieved a clean sweep of top grades (A*/A or Distinction*/Distinction), representing 13% of the cohort. Their success reflects the high aspirations and dedication found across the student body.
Commenting on the results, Vice Principal (Academic), Chris Oswald stated: “We are delighted to see a continued rise in top-grade achievement, with over a third of our students securing A*/A or Distinction*/Distinction grades. These results reflect the hard work and ambition of our pupils, supported by the dedication of our staff. At Campbell, we value every individual journey and measure success in many forms, not just academic. As a school that selects only 70 percent of its Year 8 intake on academic criteria, we are proud of the value we add across a broad range of abilities. Congratulations to all our leavers. We wish them every success as they take their next steps.”
Incoming Headmaster, Jonathan Anderson added: “As the new Head of Campbell College, today’s A Level results are my first glimpse of the ambition, talent, and spirit that define this excellent school. Our pupils have achieved outstanding success, supported by dedicated staff and families who believe in them; my heartfelt congratulations go to them all.”
