We are delighted to have reached a significant milestone in our Building for the Future Sports project with the completion of Phase 1, a state-of-the-art fitness suite, which will open to pupils on Monday 22nd April.

This new fitness suite facility cost £1.8 million and will represent one of the best of its kind in any school in Northern Ireland. Open to all pupils under the careful management of the College’s Strength and Conditioning Team, Phase 1 also includes the first of several new Sports Science classrooms, all combining to create a true sports hub for the College that will meet the increasing demand.

This is Phase 1 of three phases of work due to be undertaken to transform the CCB Sports Buildings into facilities that are fit for the future. Phases 2&3 are due to start in the Summer and will include more new classrooms, new changing rooms, a new studio space, newly refurbished sports hall, a climbing wall and a public area.  All the plans are energy efficient and in line with the College’s sustainability strategy.

We are delighted with the completion of Phase 1 and thank all of you who have donated to help make this possible. However, we need further support if we are to complete Phases 2 and 3 and I would urge everyone to consider donating at any level to the BFTF Sport Appeal.  We receive no financial support for capital projects such as these and so your donations make a big difference.

There are several ways to support the BFTF Sport Appeal;

  • Sponsor a Brick: engrave your name or the name of your family, son, team onto a brick and be forever a part of our CCB Supporters’ Wall. A single brick costs £1,000 and you can pay this over 10 or 20 months to spread the cost.
  • Donate at any level: simply make a one-off donation towards the Appeal at any level or set up a monthly donation.
  • For those seeking to make a larger donation or discuss a Legacy Gift please contact Cathy Law, Development Director to discuss this further.

Take a look at the final update from Michael Johnston from Johnston and Houston and Mark Hanna from Mascott Construction as they hand over the keys. We look forward to sharing more with you in the weeks ahead as the facility officially opens its doors.
