"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them"

Today, pupils, staff, Old Campbellians and a few invited guests, gathered together for Remembrance Day. Due to capacity restrictions in effect, attendance was limited to current Year 14 pupils and Senior School musicians. The Service was streamed to classrooms via Zoom to ensure everyone could participate and pay their respects.

The Headmaster was accompanied by the Right Reverend Dr. David Bruce (5907) Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, who gave the address and led the act of Remembrance. Strathearn Head Prefect Andra Vladu joined Head Prefect Ollie Webb for the readings. Ollie read the WB Yeats poem An Irishman Foresees his Death and poignantly reflected on the Service of past pupils and staff, referencing the Old Campbellians whose portraits gaze on Central Hall. Wreaths were laid by the WW1 memorial while Pipe Major Matthew Wilson played the Flowers of the Forest lament.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those who have Served

and currently Serve to protect us.

Since musical involvement was limited this year, the music department and Senior Music and Moving Image Arts pupils kindly pre-recorded the Junior and Senior Choirs singing Abide With Me which can be watched here.
