Men's Health Week which this year is taking place on 13th-19th June, is designed to give all boys and men access to the information, services and treatment they need to live healthier, longer and more fulfilling lives. This year the theme of Men's Health Week is to highlight the importance of taking stock of your overall health now that the worst of Covid-19 is over. While the pandemic has taken so much focus, it is important to be conscious of other serious health conditions, so this year, men are being encouraged to pay attention to their body and organise an 'MOT health check'.

Men's Health Forum noted that while we've been focused on the pandemic we've taken our eyes off other serious conditions. Cancer diagnoses fell during the pandemic because people made fewer visits to healthcare professionals. Additionally, male GP visits fell more than female visits. On top of this, NHS Health Checks, which should be offered to most people over 40, were paused during Covid. All of this gives us even more reason to keep an eye on our own bodies and minds and give ourselves an MOT.

Last year, Men's Health Week focused on raising awareness of how boys and men were being impacted by Covid-19. Workshops were offered on this topic via the CCB Parent Forum to assist parents in dealing with the Mental Health issues that affected pupils. Resources are available from last November's session on the Community Hub Resource page for anyone who would like to revisit the key points from that session. We also recommend watching our Spotlight on Wellbeing where our Wellbeing Ambassadors discuss the importance of the Wellbeing Lounge and the new program in place which provides support for our Middle School pupils.
